Rethink the Shark

I have been scuba diving with sharks, they are really beautiful creatures. I'm sure if I was threatened or attacked by one I might feel a little different, but I know that is fairly unlikely. What is more important is that sharks are an important part of an eco-system, and wiping them out is bad for every living thing.

have you seen Sharkwater? As a documentary it's pretty amazing (and upsetting), even if the narrator/filmmaker has sort of a Keanu Reeves affect.

I have not seen that, it looks interesting.

I wish that websites about saving sharks did a better job of explaining why we need to save them. I had to dig around to find some real argument for not eradicating sharks.

the best (and most chilling) part of sharkwater is when they talk about how sharks are the oldest living species on earth, and so all other living species have evolved in an ecosystem where sharks are present, which means no one knows what will happen once sharks are gone, especially when it comes to all the oxygen provided by plankton. it might turn out that sharks are THE keystone species.

I strongly agree; and the same goes for venomous spiders and snakes. They were put here for a reason.
