Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest

This evening I got to see an advanced screening of Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest. My recommendation is not to go see it.

There was plenty of entertainment in it, but it was too long for a sequel that has no ending. They may as well have put a big fat "To be continued..." at the end, cause the story was completely left hanging. It made me think of the second movie in the Matrix Trilogy, only I have less of a desire to go back and see what becomes of Jack Sparrow and his acquaintances.

Did I mention it was too long? It seems like awards for editing go to movies that last well over two hours. There are fight and chase scenes that go on past most people's interest. The references to the previous movie become tiresome after a while. While a story builds up around Jack Sparrow, some key information is not explained very well.

The upsides are some really cool characters and effects, a few scary moments and my first time seeing Liar's Dice played outside a bar in San Francisco.
