Observations in Ireland

My first evening in Ireland I saw a mosquito, in my hometown, the first time I had ever seen one in Ireland. I was also bitten a few times in my sleep. I'm guessing it is a side-effect of global-warming.

CastletownBere, the Beara peninsula and Ireland in general is home to many eastern european immigrants. I think this is probably a good thing, but I do wonder at Ireland's ability to cope well with the sudden influx of people looking for work. I do hope immigrants get treated as well as irish immigrants have been treated around the world.

Ireland has become very expensive. I don't think I could move back to Ireland without a lot of money or a job that paid very well. I was asked quite often if I would move back, I always said I wouldn't do it right now, but someday, maybe.

I didn't watch much TV, but I really like the lack of censorship of Irish and English programming. The USA is so tight-assed about swearing and nudity, it seems so prudish.
