Off Topic

I'm on a mailing list for a website I support, that's connected to a certain event in a desert. The list is a way for similar folks to communicate about the work they are doing, and sometimes to socialize. Whenever the topic is not related to the website or the event, people put "OT" in the subject line so we know it might not be important or relevant to us.

Today someone sent an article about Radical Islam to the list indicating it might have some pertinence to the event we support. I read half the article and then scanned the rest, but it seems that the link was all in the sender's mind. Here's the article:

My response to the list was:
You might want to mark such emails as "OT" or "WOT" - Way Off
Topic. Unless I missed something.

Am I being a dick? Connecting Radical Islam to our festival in the desert seems really absurd to me.
