Gay Pride

I have never actively done much for gay rights or gay pride, so I'm quite proud of this month's charity vgift campaign and our efforts to put it together. With so much of the world still afraid of homosexuality, heterosexuals need to play a bigger role in ensuring equal rights for people of all sexual orientations.

June marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York, is also the month when San Francisco celebrates gay pride, and the Purple, or lavender, Rhino was a gay pride symbol used in Boston in 1974.

Equal rights and opportunities are still something non-heterosexuals have to fight for. Many US states have changed, or are attempting to change, their constitutions to make marriage only legal for heterosexual couples. Websites like eHarmony refuse to cater to homosexual people. And a lesbian couple are asked to stop showing affection in public. Those are just a few examples of how people's rights are still being trampled on.
